Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center
The Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center provides travel and tourism information for the entire State of North Carolina. It is located on US Hwy 17 and the historic Dismal Swamp Canal, an alternate route on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. The Center is located three miles south of the NC/VA state line and the Dismal Swamp State Park’s entrance is located adjacent to this property. The Dismal Swamp is designated as a National Park Service Network to Freedom Underground Railroad site as well as part of the NC/VA Civil War Trail. The canal was hand dug in the late 1700’s and is the oldest continually operating waterway in the continental US. Hiking, biking, birding, paddling and photography opportunities are abundant.

Havelock Tourist & Event Center
The Havelock Tourist & Event Center features an aviaiton exhibit and is a full-service banquet facility. Discover an exciting aviation exhibit highlighting Marine Corps Aviation in Eastern Carolina. Seven restored aircraft on loan from the U.S. Marine Corps and Department of the Navy are on display along with scaled models depicting the aircraft lineage of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Cherry Point from its inceptionin 1942. Historic photograhs and artifacts round out the exhibit, including Civil War history. The adjacent waterfront park along Slocum Creek features a nature boardwalk and boat ramp. The facility makes a unique and exciting venue for your next business or social gathering. Roanoke Island Festival Park
If you are interested in Outer Banks history, nature, recreation, and family activities, Roanoke Island Festival Park is an ideal choice. This Roanoke Island attraction, across from the Manteo waterfront and just 5 miles from Nags Head and 30 minutes from Hatteras Island and Kitty Hawk, is a 25-acre interactive historic site representing the first English settlement attempt in 1585. The park also hosts many performances throughout the year in the Indoor Theatre and concerts at the Outdoor Pavilion.
