Glass Tulip Film Festival
The Historic Turnage Theatre located in the heart of Downtown Washington is home to the Glass Tulip Film Festival. An ideal event for film-lovers everywhere, students from various NC high schools, colleges, and universities will have their work featured in one of the following categories: 3D, short (30 minutes or less), animated, nature, historic, horror, and documentary. Come out and see these talented amateur filmmakers showcase their work when the festival kicks off on April 14th beginning at 7 p.m. and continues through April 15th at 9:00 p.m.
Washington Marine Market & Boco Festival
Get your dancing shoes ready for the Washington Marine Market & Boco Festival on Saturday, April 29th. Presented by the Beaufort County Traditional Music Association and Arts of the Pamlico, this annual event features live music in downtown Washington. Genres include traditional, folk, acoustic, and more so come down and enjoy the area’s best music in a picturesque setting.
Smithfield Ham & Yam Festival
Smithfield may be a little further inland but one taste of their famous Smithfield Ham and you’ll see why this festival is worth the trip! Saturday, May 6th, Downtown Smithfield will host thousands of hungry attendees eager to enjoy country ham and sweet potatoes, along with craft and commercial vendors, delicious food vendors, and live entertainment by local bands and dancers. In addition, the festival features a barbecue cook-off, rubber duck race, 5k run, and the “What’s that Yam Thing” contest. To learn more click here.
